The certificate program comes from a collaboration resulting from the Kellogg-supported grant collaboration and is proposed to expand opportunities for enhancement of early childhood policy and practice in the state of Mississippi and the nation.

Course Requirements
In order to earn this graduate certificate the students will take all four of the courses offered:
- EDEC 610 Early Childhood Education and Care: History, Child Development, and Equity
- EDEC 611 Early Childhood Education and Care Today: Examining Practices, Policies, and Key Issues
- EDEC 612 Early Childhood Education and Care Policy: Theory, Analysis and Research
- EDEC 613 Early Childhood Education and Care today: Policy, leadership and Policy Advocacy
