Description

The Minor in Social Work will provide students outside the social work major with theoretical, professional and practical knowledge of the helping profession. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing the student’s understanding of the ethics, values, history, and theoretical perspectives which undergird the discipline of social work. Students who complete the minor in social work will develop competencies in engaging individuals, families, and systems with diverse backgrounds and needs; reflecting the core values and ethical principles of the discipline of social work.

Course Requirements

Students must complete a total of 18 hours, earning a minimum of “C” in each course. Total number of hours for minor/(courses): 18 hours (3 required courses, 6 courses total)

Core courses (3 Courses, 9 hours required) Offered each fall and spring in Oxford, and in the fall semester for the Desoto and Tupelo campus.

  • SW 201 and SW 330 are offered online in the fall semester. All other offerings are face-to-face.
