The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Minor - Global Security Studies

Description

A minor in global security studies (GSS) familiarizes students with the skills and background necessary for entry-level employment in the national security sector.

Course Requirements

A minor in GSS requires students to complete the following courses: ISS 135, ISS 351, ISS 301 or Pol 335, ISS 360, ISS 480, and 3 hours of an approved elective outlined below. Substitutions are permitted at the discretion of the director.

ELECTIVES:

The following Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (CISS) course offerings: ISS 125, ISS 420, and ISS 490

OR

Courses offered by other departments related to national security such as foreign policy, conflict studies, history of war, weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, and cyber. Students must receive prior approval for a course offered outside of CISS.

Other Academic Requirements

Students must complete each course in the GSS minor with a grade of "B" or better and must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0. Students not meeting these requirements may be dropped from the minor.
