B.S. in Dental Hygiene (2+2)
Description
The B.S. in dental hygiene (a 2+2 program with the University of Mississippi Medical Center) prepares an individual for employment as a clinical practitioner, educator, researcher, administrator, or consultant in dental hygiene. The program prepares graduates to seek licensure as a registered dental hygienist.

Course Requirements
The B.S. in dental hygiene is a two-phase program, which prepares graduates for a professional credentialing examination. The first phase consists of 60 semester hours with a 2.5 minimum GPA. The second phase is in a professional program such as the dental hygiene program offered at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. At least 8 hours of observation of two licensed or registered dental hygienists, in two separate clinical environments is required. Students must meet minimum criteria and apply to UMMC by February 15 of the year the candidate desires entry, and admission is competitive.
