The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

CSD 625: Genetics, Autism, Augmentative & Alt Com

Communication Sciences & Disorders

This course will introduce basic organics and genetics to include genetic linkage and mapping, an appreciation of genetic variations and population genetics in medicine, and an understanding of the basic genetic foundation upon which treatments might be available. Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) will develop from the genetics discussion and will include assessment and treatment of individuals diagnosed on the spectrum, with a range of possible treatments to include augmentative and alternative communication. Implementation is by lecture, discussion, and demonstration.
