The Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy operate on both the Oxford and Jackson campuses. The Schools of Dentistry, Health Related Professionals and Medicine, and the Health Sciences Graduate School, are based in Jackson only. (Additional healthcare programs are available through the School of Applied Sciences on the Oxford campus.) Other than these exceptions, the schools above are on the Oxford campus.

Coun 661: School Counseling Practicum

LEADERSHIP & COUNSELOR EDUCATION

Students will apply critical counseling skills learned in previous course work in a K-12 school setting (elementary, middle, or high school). Under the supervision of the course instructor and the onsite supervisor, students will work to apply the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) National Model. Students must complete 100 hours of practical experience (minimum of 40 direct contact hours) and participate in weekly supervision with a licensed school counselor. Students must have a field site prior to starting the course, and all field sites must have departmental approval.

Application must be completed and accepted during the preceding semester. Pre-requisite: Core course work.
