Soc 617: Racism and Religion

SOCIOLOGY & ANTHROPOLOGY

Racial and religious minorities are subjected to racism sometimes as parts of larger state and religiously endorsed racial projects. Students will examine the nexus between racism and religion in the United States by examining the treatment of African Americans, Jews, and Muslims. We will also incorporate examples of racism and the racialization of religious groups throughout the world and during various historical epochs.
