Description
The goal of the naval science minor is to educate any student about the history, missions, and capabilities of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. NROTC students minor in naval science while completing all of the academic and professional course work required by their scholarship contracts. Non-NROTC students may complete the minor as well but are not required to take leadership laboratories.
Course Requirements
A minor in naval science requires a minimum of 18 hours of which 12 are mandatory. The remaining 6 are composed of elective courses.
Required Course (12 hours): NSC 111 Introduction to Naval Science (3) NSC 112 Seapower and Maritime Affairs (3) NSC 211 Naval Leadership and Management (3) NSC 412 Naval Leadership and Ethics (3)
Elective Courses (6 hours): NSC 212 Navigation (3) NSC 310 Evolution of Warfare (3) NSC 312 Naval Ship Systems I (Engineering) (3) NSC 313 Naval Ship Systems II (Weapons) (3) NSC 410 Amphibious Warfare (3) NSC 413 Naval Operations and Seamanship (3)
