Mus 680: Introduction to Ethnomusicology

The course examines the discipline’s formation and growth through a survey of its history, theories, methodologies, and interdisciplinary nature. Special projects, including technical aspects of research such as fieldwork and transcription, will complement course readings and discussion of texts by major scholars.
